Belles Care Bears are 7 weeks old! That means they will be ready for their new homes next week! The pups had the busiest week yet. We officially have everyone taking short naps in their own crates. We are so proud of how great this group is doing! We continue our very frequent trips outside, and the pups are doing wonderful with potty training. Were confident they will have a great head start when they go to their new families.
Weve been taking the pups on short car trips, this whole group travels wonderfully! The pups are now completely weaned from Mama, and are super focused on us humans now. They had their visit to the vet yesterday, everyone did greatl! We got so many compliments about how calm and chill the group was. Every puppy got their first set of shots, deworming, microchip, and a clean bill of health.
We did Temperament testing this morning and the whole group scored similarly with the everyone scoring mostly 3’s and 4’s.
*Wish, Share, and Brave heart scored a 5 on the restraint test which just means they did not struggle at all when being placed on their backs.
Before you read the individual info, I can honestly say this whole group is amazing. There really is no wrong choice, and temperament wise this bunch is very similar. We have some pups that are just a bit more playful and some that are slightly more mellow, but on the whole this group is wonderful and very even tempered. Everyone has gorgeous fleece hypo allergenic coats that will likely be straight to wavy/straight. Each pup in the group loves kids, is friendly and cheerful, and gets along really well with other doggies.
Brave Heart Lion
Brave Heart is a sweet, super friendly boy. He has wonderful eye contact and is very people focused. He is a perfect combination of adventurous, playful, and a sweet cuddle bear. Brave heart lion was born with a slight bend in his tail, we had our vet take a look at it and she confirmed as we suspected, its purely cosmetic and will not affect him in any way. Brave heart will likely grow to be about 55-60lbs.
Good Luck Bear
Good Luck, or Lucky as we like to call him, is a mellow, chill boy. He prefers to be in our arms or by our feet as opposed to playing and will likely grow to be a giant lap doggy. Lucky is very focused and will likely be easy to train, he sits up at attention, makes great eye contact, and has just a really great calm focus about himself. Lucky is the largest in the litter and will likely grow to be around 60lbs.
Share Bear
Share is sweet and gentle, always happy to great you with a wagging tail and sweet puppy licks. She has a happy go lucky, easy going personality. We find that Share is happy to play, if one of our children wants to throw the ball around, but will just as quickly snuggle in to your lap if thats what your looking for. Almost as if to say, im happy doing whatever your doing. Share will likely grow to be around 50lbs
Funshine Bear
Funshine, is sweet and super laid back. She is probably the most mellow of the girls, preferring to snuggle rather than play. Funshine loves kids, and has the most beautiful blue gray eyes. She cracks us up because she always has this "sad puppy" expression even though shes a super happy girl. Funshine will likely grow to be about 50 lbs
Cheer Bear
Cheer is such a happy little girl and is definitely the goof ball of the group. Cheers personality reminds us alot of her mama Belle. Cheer is very bright, and curious and is always the one to facilitate playtime with her siblings. We have no doubt, Cheer will bring lots of joy to the family that brings her home. Cheer will likely grow to be about 55lbs
Wish Bear
Wish, is very playful always wagging her tail and happy. She is such a good mix of playful and cuddly, being very content to play with the group, but also one of the first to settle in by our feet, or in our arms once she has had enough. She is very bright and loves kids, snuggles, and playtime. She looks very similar to her sister Funshine but has a black nose and a bit more white markings. Wish will likely grow to be around 55lbs
Look at this sweet group! Belles Care Bears are 6 weeks old and getting fluffier by the day! We had a great week with this bunch. Every single pup sat so nicely for their bath, blow dry, and brush as they prepared for their 6 week photos. Dare I say, this was the easiest grooming session for a litter we've ever had?! The early exposure to the different grooming tools is an important part of their training. As knowing how to sit nicely for a the person grooming them will be with them for the rest of their life
The pups are getting used to spending short periods of time in their crates now (2 to a crate) with the door closed. By the end of this week, we will work on getting each pup into an individual crate for short nap times. Something that can be hard for some pups, when they dont have a buddy with them. This group though, is doing exceptionally well with crate time, just about everyone already climbs in to the cozy crate for a nap.
Mama is still nursing the pups for very short spirts, 1 or 2 times a day, but their primary source of nutrition is now their regular meals of puppy mush. The pups are so people focused now, its so cute to watch them follow our children around the yard like little ducklings.
Potty training is going really well too. We get the pups outside often and this group seems to get that we potty outside. Next week will be a big pupdate, the pups will go to the vet for their checkup and first set of shots, we will post weights, results from the temperament testing, and more about each pups personality in that 7 week pupdate. Puppy selection day is just 1 week away!
Look who’s 5 weeks old!
The puppies had the busiest week yet, so many firsts!
For starters, we ventured outside for the first time. Sometimes we have a pup or two that are more reserved and apprehensive at the first outing, but not this group. Everyone was ready and excited to explore the new surroundings, all the new sights and smells, they had a blast exploring the yard.
The puppies began food this week and just about the whole bunch eagerly lapped at their puppy mush, excited for a change. We did have 1 hold out, Good Luck Bear , or “Lucky” as we’ve been calling him, is not as interested in mush as he is mamas milk. He preferred to sit on the sidelines during the first meal while the group ate, and waited for mama to come out for his meal. We will continue to feed mush this week, eventually changing over to soaked kibble, as they continue to ween from mama.
We also introduced the pups to crates this week with the door opened. The pups are already willingly climbing in for a snooze. By the end of week 7 the goal is to have each pup sleeping for short periods of time comfortably in their own crate with the door closed.
Their noses and footpads will continue to darken in the coming weeks eventually being solid black, with the exception of little Funshine who will be the only one with a solid brown nose and footpads. Funshine also has these beautiful gray blue eyes. A few other things to note, Wish has a super small black parti spot of hair above her right ear. Its not something visible unless you really look for it but just kind of a special and unique thing about her. Brave heart Lion was born with a slight kink in his tail, also something that wont really be noticeable, with his hair but a unique characteristic.
We continue to expose the pups to many different sights, sounds, smells and textures as part of our puppy socialization. This coming week will be a very busy one, as we continue to build on all the things we started last week . Next Sunday we will post individual puppy videos and week 7 we will have our temperament tests done followed by puppy selection!
Here they are, outside for the first time. Belles Care Bears!
Belles Care Bears have turned 4 weeks old, which means half the time we get with this amazing group, has already passed. In just 4 more weeks they will be ready to go to their furever homes! Now that they are walking, and eyesight continues to sharpen, they are starting to wrestle, and play with one another. When we walk in the room, full attention is on us. This little group is attentive and already very people focused. Little personalities are really starting to come out. Cheer Bear, for example, is definitely a Cheerful happy little girl. Her little tail never stops wagging. Good Luck Bear and his sister Share are always looking for a lap to snuggle in. Wish is already showing what a confident friendly little girl she is. Brave heart has amazing eye contact and seems to be quietly observing everything. The smallest one Funshine is playful and sweet. There is so much development this group has ahead, but its in these early weeks that we start to see little hints of the sweet personalities as they begin to develop.
This coming week is a big one, later in the week the pups will begin to go outside and also have their first taste of puppy mush! The whole group is developing wonderfully , mama continues to be a nurturing and attentive mama.
For those on this reservation list, keep an eye out in your email for our 4 week puppy checklist and a few reminders/notes about our upcoming dates. Here they are at 4 weeks, Belles Care Bears!
Look at all these sweet little faces!!! Belles Care Bears are 3 weeks old.
It’s so amazing how fast the pups are developing. We hope you saw the video we posted on our Instagram earlier in the week.
Just about everyone’s eyes are all the way opened. Funshine is just a little behind, you might notice in her photo her eyes are not quite all the way opened yet, any day now we expect to see them completely opened. Size differences are becoming more apparent. It looks as though Funshine will be just a little smaller than her siblings. It also appears she will have a cute little brown nose. Their individual unique markings, are really starting to stand out as they are growing. The whole group is now practicing walking on all 4s as they are becoming more mobile, we will introduce a sleep nest this week, and a designated potty area in their pen. Puppies instinctively want to move away from their sleep area to go potty, by setting these designated spaces up early, we are setting the groundwork for potty training.
Now that the puppies can hear, we have begun sound desensitization with the group. We play lots of different sounds ; dogs barking, vacuums, motorcycles, doorbells, babies crying, fireworks etc. The goal is to introduce them to these sounds early, before the fear stage sets in, and the end result is a puppy that is comfortable, well adjusted, and not fearful when they hear these sounds throughout their life.
We continue our daily cuddles with the group, (this bunch is just especially chill) with most of them falling asleep in our arms.
The puppies are still very focused on mama Belle, that will continue through the next few weeks until they are weened. This group is bringing our family so much joy! We love these little guys. Here they are at 3 weeks. Belles Care Bears.
Belle’s Care Bears are 2 weeks old today! We are amazed at how fast these babies are growing. This is our first litter of full Standards and it's amazing to see how much larger this bunch already is. Belle continues to be a wonderful and attentive mama. Belle's sister Winnie (Auntie Winnie to the pups) and Mama Elsa (Grandmother to the pups) are both eager to help clean and care for the bunch, Mama Belle fully trusts them, and it's truly something that is so sweet to watch. This group is in such good hands.
We seriously can't get enough of this gentle little bunch. Cuddle time has been extra fun, with every single pup being so totally chill and relaxed we call them floppy puppies when they go totally limp while being held, this whole bunch is a floppy little bunch! We've started to hear little barks from Wish and Funshine on occasion, and they have all started to move about the pen quite well. It won't be long before they are up on all 4’s walking. Eyes have not opened yet but it will be any day now. We noticed this morning with Good Luck that we can see just the smallest bit peaking through. By the end of this week, we expect to see everyones eyes opened! We are just over the moon with this whole group and can't wait to continue to watch them grow.
Officially introducing…. Belles Care Bear Litter!
Belle is just a big teddy bear to us so we couldn't think of a better theme than the one and only Care Bears! From left to right we have Wish Bear-Light Blue Collar, Share Bear-Purple Collar, Brave Heart Lion-Orange Collar, Cheer Bear-Pink Collar, Funshine Bear-Yellow Collar, and Good Luck Bear-Green Collar. Brave Heart Lion and Good Luck Bear are the two boys.
We knew Belle carried for Parti and we were hoping to see one in the bunch, we were pleasantly surprised to see 3 Partis, Share, Cheer, and Good Luck Bear. Both Wish and Funshine have beautiful dark coats with little white paws and bellies, and Brave Heart Lion appears to be a handsome solid apricot/carmel color.
We have begun Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and will continue through day 16. ENS is a process that introduces mild stresses to the puppies in a controlled way. These stresses help stimulate the neurological system which improves the growth & development of the puppies’ immune system, cardiovascular system, and stress tolerance.
Mama and Babies are doing wonderful, they are eating non stop and growing so fast already!
This is Belle’s first litter, and we are so proud of what a loving and attentive mama she is!
Belles Litter of standards have arrived! Sunday morning 8-18-24 our Belle gave birth to 6 beautiful pups. We have 4 girls and 2 boys and 3 partis in the group!
