Week 7

Our Woodland Critters are 7 weeks old (on Wednesday), and that means it’s time for puppy selection! On Sunday the pups went for their vet check, first set of shots, and de-worming.

Everyone did amazing and we received a clean bill of health for the whole group. Nothing to note or be concerned about with anyone, which is exactly what we hope for!

A few things before we get into individual assessments.

This whole litter is amazing- occasionally we have a standout shyer puppy or one that is a bit more dominant, but in this litter there was no real standout (in a good way). This is a super even tempered group.

Every one of them is incredibly smart. They all love to snuggle, and every one of them is doing amazing with potty and crate training. There truly is no “best puppy”, even in our home everyone has a different favorite, which is a true testament to how fantastic this whole litter is.

The pups met with our trainer this morning for their temperament assessments, the whole group did fantastic.

 We do Volhard temperament testing-

Volhard says: “For that first time, wonderfully easy to train, potential star, look for a puppy that scores with mostly 4’s and 3’s.” For more info on score interpretation head over to https://www.appenzellers.org/uploads/6/0/7/4/60747419/volhards_puppy_aptitude_test.pdf

I’m so happy to report, that across the board this litter scored mostly 3s and 4s (more on that below).

Lastly, some of the pups still have noses that have pink/ light brown, I expect all of them to eventually darken to solid black.

Without further ado- Let’s get into it!

Buck

-Buck-

With the cutest puppy dog eyes and beautiful coat, Buck is just too precious! He is a super sweet gentle but cheerful little guy, with his tail always wagging and a happy go lucky personality. Buck will likely be around 35lbs grown. Buck scored mostly 3’s and 4’s on his temperament testing with a 5 on restraint (he didn’t struggle at all) Which doesn't surprise me- hah! Buck is a super chill boy and will make the perfect snuggle buddy for the family that brings him home.

Cub

-Cub-

We love Cubs unique markings! He has a beautiful dark red and white tuxedo coat and the cutest little half mustache. Cub is so much like his brother Buck. Happy, gentle, and sweet, Cub loves to wrestle and play with his siblings but happily will trot up to you with his tail in the air wagging and looking for snuggles. Cub is the largest boy and will likely be around 40lbs grown. Cub scored mostly 3’s and 4’s with a 5 on social attraction and following. Cub can't wait to snuggle and play with his new family.

Stag

-Stag-

We call him Swaggy Staggy for a reason! Stag is the life of the party.  Stag is incredibly smart and so curious! Outgoing and super friendly, Stag is the first to say hello to visitors, he loves meeting new people and is usually the first to investigate when there is something new or different to checkout. He will be ready and excited to go on any adventure his new family takes him on. Stag, like his sister Fawn, has that gorgeous deep rich red coat (like their mama). Stag is the smallest boy, I anticipate him to be around 30-35lbs grown.

Stag scored all 3’s and 4’s on his temperament testing.

Fawn

-Fawn-

Sweet Fawn reminds us so much of her mama, with her gorgeous deep red coat and gentle, sweet disposition. Fawn loves finding a good lap to snuggle up in, but isn’t one to shy away from a good wrestling match. She is one of the smaller ones in the litter and will likely grow to be around 30lbs.

Fawn scored all 3’s and 4’s with a single 2 on stability (she was cautious but confident when the umbrella came out).☺️

Fawn cant wait to meet her new wrestling partners!

Doe

Doe

-Doe-

Sweet little Doe is the smallest in the bunch but that doesn't stop her. Doe has a big personality-

Spunky, super playful, incredibly smart and  like her sister Fawn, doesn't shy away from a good wrestling match. Doe is looking for just the right family to go on adventures with! She loves kids, cuddles, and other dogs. Doe will likely grow to be about 30lbs. She scored all 3’s and 4’s on her temperament test. Whether its new fur-siblings or human siblings- Doe will fit in perfectly. She cant wait to meet her new best friends!

Kit

Doe

-Kit-

Kit is a popular girl in our home. We invite our friends over to come snuggle/socialize with the pups regularly and Kit is always one of the first to find a lap.

Kit absolutely adores children. She loves playing with her siblings but is extremely people focused and has amazing eye contact. Something that we really look at when choosing a puppy that is easier to train.

Kit weighed in right in the middle of the pack as far as size, and will likely be around 35lbs. Kit scored mostly 3’s and 4’s on her temperament testing with a single 2 on social attraction.

Vixen

Vixen

Vixen

-Vixen-

As those of you on this litter already know, we are holding back Vixen!

 Officially :

💜Kings Foxy Vixen Roxanne My World🐶 or “Roxy” for short.

We are so excited that Roxy will be staying in our program and pending all her health testing, will one day be a mama for us! We’ve been waiting for just the right girl to hold back from Foxy, and Roxy is it! Between her fabulous coat, amazing structure, sweet and confident disposition we can’t wait to have her help carry on the Kings Labradoodle name.

Week 6

Foxy’s pups are 6 weeks old and the critters just keep getting cuter!
Outdoor playtime is a favorite, chasing toys, pouncing on each other, and practicing their very serious puppy wrestling moves. Their coordination improves every day, which means they are faster… and a little harder to keep up with!
The pups are becoming more curious about the world around them and are quick to investigate anything new that appears in their space.
Crate training has been going wonderful, we started out introducing the crate with the door open- most of the pups are now happy to climb into their little space for a rest after playtime.
The pups had the full beauty shop experience before their 6 week photos. Bath, blow out, nail trim, and a little trim around their eyes with rounded scissors. Exposing the pups to all the different things they may see and hear at the grooming salon is so important, and everyone did wonderful. Coats are getting thicker and fluffier and the pups are starting to look more like little teddy bears.
This stage is so sweet, where curiosity, confidence, and cuddles are all growing at the same time. We’re soaking up every minute with these little personalities as the big milestone of going home is getting closer!

Week 5

The Woodland Critters are 5 weeks old! This past week was a big one for the crew. The puppies are becoming more coordinated and curious, bouncing around and interacting with everything around them.
We’ve expanded their playpen, giving them lots more room to stretch their legs and explore. Earlier this week they also had their first little adventure outside, which was a big milestone for these tiny explorers. Brothers, Cub and Stag marched outside for the first time confidently leading the way for the others. Kit and Buck were a bit more cautious at first, but quickly joined the gang for their most exciting adventure yet. Everyone enjoyed the new smells, sights, and textures that being outside brings.
The only thing that rivals the excitement of the first trip outside, perhaps, is the the other first the pups experienced this week, their first taste of puppy mush! It was definitely a new experience and safe to say it was a big hit.
Their personalities are really starting to shine. Some are bold explorers, some are thoughtful observers, and some are happiest right in the middle of the puppy cuddle pile.
Lots of big changes this week for these growing pups!

Week 4

Our little critters are officially FOUR weeks old and we’re having a VERY hard time not falling in love! This group is so much fun!
Now that they can see better, hear, and are fully mobile, they are beginning to interact more with each other (and us!) and it’s safe to say the nursery is no longer “quiet”.
The wrestling matches are getting serious, and tiny tails wag every time we walk in.

Personalities are really starting to show and it is SO cute to watch.

Sweet Kit is gentle and observant.
Darling Fawn is calm but sneaky playful.
Spunky Doe is always in the middle of the action.
Little Vixen has opinions already.
Handsome Stag is confident and cuddly.
Adorable Buck is everyone’s favorite wrestling partner.
And Cub is just the happiest little explorer.
Mama Foxy is still doing an amazing job, but she’s definitely starting to appreciate her short “mom breaks”. We’ll be introducing new textures, sounds, and early socialization activities in the coming days as their world gets a little bigger each week. The transformation from sleepy newborns to playful puppies is in full swing. Here they are at 4 weeks, our Woodland Critters.

Week 3

Our Woodland Critters are 3 weeks old and have officially entered their extra-cute era! Eyes are opening, curiosity is kicking in, and these little nuggets are starting to realize there’s a whole world beyond napping and snacking.

The pups can now hear, and we have begun another very important step in their development, sound desensitization. We’ve started to expose them to many different sounds, things like fireworks, babies crying, the doorbell, can all be stressors to a pup as they grow and can later become a source of a lot of anxiety. This early exposure can help build resilient and confident puppies that remain calm and neutral, rather than reactive, when facing unpredictable or loud noises.

We’re seeing a lot of tiny little tail wiggles, clumsy little steps, and the very first attempts at play with littermates.

Mama Foxy is still taking amazing care of her babies, and the puppies are growing beautifully and getting stronger by the day. Over the next week, things really start to get fun as they become more interactive and confident.

The cute factor has officially leveled up, and it only gets better from here! Stay tuned—this is where the magic starts!💕

Week 2

From left to right: Stag - Cub - Buck - Doe - Fawn - Kit - Vixen -

Our Woodland Critters are officially two weeks old, and the cuteness is leveling up!

Their personalities are beginning to peek through, and the pups are mastering the art of eat–sleep–repeat.

Speaking of peeking through, yesterday we noticed that little Doe was the first to begin a very exciting milestone - with her eyes ever so slightly beginning to open! The rest of the litter will begin to follow suit, we expect to see more eyes opening this week which will make for some exciting 3 week photos. It’s always such a special time when the pups go from eyes completely closed to open over the course of just a short week!

We’re seeing a lot more wiggling, stretching, and even a few adorable little puppy barks. Mama is taking amazing care of her babies, and the pups are happy, content, and thriving. The next couple of weeks will bring even more fun as their world starts to open up!

We can’t wait to share more as these sweet pups continue to grow 💕

Week 1

From left to right: Doe (Pink Collar-G) - Fawn (Yellow Collar-G) - Kit (Orange Collar-G) - Cub (Blue Collar-B) - Buck (Green Collar-B) - Stag (Brown Collar-B) - Vixen (Purple Collar-G)

We couldn’t think of a better theme for Foxy 🦊and Moose’s 🫎pups, it’s just so obvious… introducing our Woodland Critters Litter! 🐶💕

Officially one week old, (on Wednesday).

Everyone is doing great! This week has been all about nursing, snoozing, and growing!

Mama is doing an amazing job and is very attentive to her little crew. The puppies spend most of their time cuddled together, staying warm and cozy💕 We have begun ENS (early neurological stimulation) with the pups and will continue that through day 16.

Eyes and ears are still closed for now, but big changes are coming very soon! A few small notes, Doe (Pink collar) is weighing in as the smallest in the bunch, while Vixen (purple collar) and Kit (orange collar) are weighing in as the larger ones (for now). We have some beautiful markings on this bunch, Buck (green collar) has a super neat cluster of white spots along his neck and the top half of his back, every one of them has white markings, it will be so  much fun to watch their coats as they continue to develop. We’re so happy with how well this litter is doing and can’t wait to share more milestones as they grow.

*Pupdates for this litter will be posted on Fridays 🐶💗

Foxys pups arrived Wednesday Jan 28th. Mama started labor at about 11 am, with her first baby, a boy (Baby blue) being born just after noon. Her final puppy, a girl, (orange collar)  was born at 7:48 PM. In all she had 7 sweet babies. 4 girls and 3 boys. There is some absolutely beautiful markings on this bunch. Mama and babies are doing wonderful. Litter theme coming at our 1 week Pupdate.
